Vinny Capra

I’ll be honest, I didn’t think the 25-yr-old infielder would have much success as a member of the Buffalo Bisons this year. So it’s been really encouraging to see him doing well over the first couple of weeks in April. While I’m still not solid on his future in the MLB, he seems primed to have an impact with the Buffalo Bisons.

The former 20th-round pick from 2018 kicked off the season with a three-game hit streak, going 4-for-12 with one walk and a run scored. After swatting 10 home runs with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in 2021, Vinny hit his first home run of 2022 on April 10th (GM5), scoring two runs, followed by a four-game hit streak.

The native of Melbourne, FL., went 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored, a double, and 2 walks on April 12th. On April 14th, Vinny went 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored, 2RBI to push his batting average to .385. He hit his 2nd home run on April 15th, another solo shot.

Capra went hitless on April 16th to snap that 4-game hit streak but walk to extend his on-base streak to 5 games. On April 17th, Capra had another multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a double to extend his on-base streak to 6 games.

In 10 games, Vinny Capra owns a .205ISO with a .324BABIP, .395OBP, .538SLG, and .410wOBA. He’s split his time between 3rd (7GP) and SS (3GP).

Cullen Large

Another guy I may have underestimated. Cullen Large had himself a nice 2021 with the Buffalo Bisons, playing all over the diamond. Cullen hit 22 doubles, 3 triples, 8 home runs, 54 runs, and 44RBI with 50 walks and 102 strikeouts in 115 games. He finished with a .256BA and .327wOBA which is very close to the stats he posted in 2019 as a member of the Dunedin Blue Jays.

In 11 games, the 26-yr-old already has 4 multi-hit games. He went o-for in his first game and 1-for-4 in his 2nd before going 2-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in game 3 to push his batting average to .273. On April 9th and 10th, the switch-hitting Cullen went 5-for-7 with 2 runs scored, a pair of doubles, and a strikeout pushing his batting average even higher to .381.

Since April 9th, Cullen is riding a 7-game hit streak. He isn’t just collecting hits but earning walks with free passes in 4 straight games. On April 17th, Cullen Large went 1-for-1 with an RBI and 3 walks.

In 37 at-bats, the Midlothian, VA. native owns a .108ISO, .560 BABIP, .500OBP, .486SLG, and .452wOBA. In the field, he’s split his time between 1st (5GP), 2nd (1GP), and RF (3GP) with 2 games as the Bisons DH.
