Today we turn our attention to Steward Berroa.
Playing CF and batting 9th for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the 22-yr-old Santo Domingo, D.R. native showed good speed, extra-base power, and the potential to post decent batting averages through the first three seasons. In 2021, Berroa stole 55 bases with 7HR and a .245BA with the D-Jays. He finished 2021 with 3 games in Double-A.
Steward Berroa struck out in his first at-bat in the 2nd inning. Leading off the 5th inning, the switch-hitting outfielder bunted himself aboard, stole 2nd base, and reached 3rd on a throwing error. Unfortunately, Tanner Morris, Zac Cook, and Orelvis Martinez went down on strikes. With one out in the 7th inning, Steward singled and stole 2nd base. After a Morris walk, Zac Cook singled home Berroa, 3-3. With the game on the line, Steward Berroa drew a one-out walk in the 9th inning and stole 2nd but was left stranded once again.
The speedy outfielder finished 2-for-3 with a run scored, a walk, a strikeout, and 3 stolen bases.
In 22 at-bats, Berroa is batting .318 with a HR, 5RBI, 3 stolen base, and a .920OPS. In the field, he’s split his time between CF (5GP) and LF (2GP).
